Preserving Our History: James Monroe Statue Restoration and Ongoing Efforts
The iconic James Monroe statue at the Monroe County Courthouse has been lovingly restored to its original luster, thanks to the efforts of community leaders and skilled artisans. This important symbol of our community’s rich history now stands proudly for generations to come.
In addition to the statue restoration, other preservation projects have also taken place. The Little Brown Bear Statue has been cleaned and waxed, and several plaques have been restored. The stamped concrete patios in front of the courthouse are also scheduled for preservation.
These efforts are all part of our commitment to preserving Monroe County’s history. The Monroe County Community Foundation acts as a fiduciary for the Monument Preservation Fund, which helps fund these important preservation initiatives.
How You Can Help: We encourage community members to get involved and help protect our historic landmarks. Your donations to the Monument Preservation Fund will ensure that these important pieces of history are preserved for future generations.
