What happens when you ask young people what their community needs, and actually listen?
Now Accepting Grant Proposals: Youth Advisory Council Grant Program
This year, students from the Monroe/Erie Youth Advisory Council (YAC) did exactly that.
They surveyed their peers across Monroe Public and Erie Mason Schools, asking honest questions about what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change. What they heard was clear: young people are thinking deeply about mental health, connection, access to food, and the overall well-being of their community.
Now, they’re putting that insight into action.
The Monroe/Erie YAC is opening its grant opportunity, offering up to $5,000 to support projects that respond directly to the needs identified by our local youth.
This is a youth-informed, youth-driven process, and they’re looking to support ideas that focus on:
- Mental health awareness, education, and support
- Physical health and active living initiatives
- Nutrition and food access
- Substance use prevention and recovery support
- Social connectedness and community engagement
