Sheriff Chaplain’s and Victim Services Unit Fund

The purpose of the Fund is to support the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit and the Chaplain’s by providing resources that assist victims and survivors of crime through immediate crisis response, short-term intervention, volunteer training, education, practical support to reduce immediate safety and access barriers, referrals to appropriate community services, and navigation of victim rights and the judicial process.

Purple Ribbon Animal Services Fund

The Purple Ribbon Animal Services Fund supports a compassionate initiative dedicated to victims fleeing domestic violence/abusive relationships in Monroe County, Michigan, by providing emergency veterinary medical services and temporary housing for their animals. The initiative works closely with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and the Monroe Family Counseling and Shelter Services. Assistance is available for large and small animal species. This fund also supports the anonymous volunteers and businesses that work together to assist victims and their animals when their safety is most critical. Recognizing the role pets play in the lives of survivors, this program ensures that no one has to choose between safety and the well-being of their beloved animals.

Dr. Elizabeth C. Crosby Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Elizabeth C. Crosby Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of renowned neuroanatomist and Petersburg native Dr. Elizabeth C. Crosby. Established by her former student, Dr. Scott M. Burns, the fund provides scholarships to graduates of Summerfield High School. Students can be traditional, part-time, and adult learners who pursue any form of post-secondary education. The scholarship celebrates Dr. Crosby’s groundbreaking contributions to science and her enduring belief in the power of education and perseverance.

Carol J. Novak K-9 Support Endowed Fund

The Carol J. Novak K-9 Support Endowed Fund provides lasting support to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. Established through the estate of Carol J. Novak, the fund enhances the working capabilities and well-being of the K-9 teams by helping provide for their care, training, and essential equipment. Should the K-9 Unit ever cease operation, future distributions will benefit the Humane Society of Monroe County.

Whiteford Recreation Advised Charitable Fund

The Whiteford Recreation Club Fund supports the charitable activities and community programs of the Whiteford Recreation Club. This fund provides a sustainable way for donors to strengthen youth recreation, facilities, and community engagement in the Whiteford area for years to come.
