
Meet the New Board Members Strengthening CFMC’s Mission in Monroe County
We are thrilled to announce the addition of six new members to our Board of Directors—each bringing a wealth of experience, a passion for service, and a shared commitment to building a stronger, more vibrant Monroe County.
“We are entering an exciting new chapter at the Community Foundation,” said Valerie Orr, Executive Director. “These dynamic leaders bring deep community roots and fresh perspectives. Together, we’ll continue creating meaningful impact across the region for generations to come.”
Introducing Our New Board Members
Stephanie Blatt – Consumers Energy
As Community Affairs Manager at Consumers Energy, Stephanie Blatt leads partnership initiatives across Wayne, Washtenaw, and Monroe counties. With over 20 years in government relations—including positions at Wayne State University, ITC Holdings, and Van Scoyoc Associates in Washington, D.C.—Stephanie champions collaborative solutions that connect businesses and communities. She serves on the Monroe County Business Alliance and Livonia Westland Chamber of Commerce boards. A Syracuse University graduate, she lives in Grosse Pointe with her family.
Sr. Paula Cooney, IHM
Sr. Paula Cooney, IHM, is an educator, theologian, and advocate for inclusive senior living. As administrator of a retirement community and active board member with the Servants of Jesus and Friends of St. Mary’s redevelopment committee, she brings invaluable insight to issues of aging, equity, and preservation. Her focus at CFMC includes increasing visibility and promoting diverse leadership to reflect and serve all of Monroe County.
Dr. Julie Everly – City of Monroe
A lifelong educator and civic leader, Dr. Julie Everly is currently the Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development for the City of Monroe. Previously a public school superintendent, she serves on the boards of ProMedica, United Way, and Generation E, and is a member of the Commission on the Environment. Dr. Everly is particularly passionate about supporting local scholarship programs, advancing community-led initiatives, and raising awareness of CFMC’s growing impact.
Cassie Prior – Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity
With a background in child welfare and public service, Cassie Prior currently serves as a Federal Grant Reporting Specialist. She is a Trustee on the Milan School Board, a member of the Greater Milan Area Community Foundation’s Fund Advisory Committee, and a volunteer at The Ark in Ann Arbor. Cassie brings a systems-minded approach to community well-being, backed by academic degrees from Eastern Michigan University and over a decade of civic engagement in Milan.
David Snyder – Civic Leader & Real Estate Developer
David Snyder has played a leading role in Milan’s downtown revitalization efforts since relocating in 2015. A former educator and current Milan City Council member, he also serves on the Milan Downtown Development Authority, Aid in Milan, and Moving Milan Forward. His work on the Greater Milan Area Community Fund continues to drive economic and civic renewal. David is a Michigan State University graduate and a proud father of three.
Cynthia Stump – ITC Holdings
As Director of Local Government & Community Affairs at ITC Michigan, Cynthia Stump oversees a team working closely with local officials to support major energy infrastructure projects. Her leadership roles include the Michigan Agriculture & Energy Council, Michigan Economic Development Club Advisory Board, and the 8MBA Board. Cynthia holds an M.S. in Human Resources & Organizational Development from Eastern Michigan University and a BBA in International Business from Northwood University.Building Toward a Stronger Future
