Celebrating Robotics Success at Milan Middle School
We’re excited to share an update from our geographical affiliate, the Greater Milan Area Community Fund (GMACF). A generous grant from the Milan Area Enrichment Fund, along with support from the Fayne & Joanne McGovern Youth Fund, helped power an exceptional year for the Milan Middle School Code Red Robotics program.
This support enabled the program to achieve remarkable milestones while fostering creativity, innovation, and teamwork. Key highlights included:
- Aqua, one of the team’s robots, reached the playoffs at two competitions, including an undefeated streak at the Bedford FTC Qualifier.
- Bunny-Bot-Bob earned the Judge’s Choice Award for its standout design and performance.
- Competing at the highest levels against some of Michigan’s most well-funded robotics programs, demonstrating incredible growth and skill.
The program also expanded with the addition of a third robotics team, while students gained hands-on experience in coding, AutoCAD, 3D printing, and more. The grant provided essential tools, parts, and computers, opening new opportunities for students to pursue their innovative ideas.
Looking ahead, the robotics program plans to continue its momentum with guest speakers, field trips, and advanced skill-building initiatives. Thanks to GMACF’s support, this program has empowered young innovators and strengthened the Milan community.
