Milan High School Technology Program: Empowering Students Through Innovation

We are thrilled to share the remarkable progress of Milan High School’s Technology Program, supported by a grant from the Greater Milan Area Community Fund (GMACF).

The Technology Program recently applied for funding to upgrade outdated equipment, including 3D printers and an additional laser burner. Previously, the program struggled with equipment malfunctions and limited access to hands-on experiences due to the scarcity of resources. The goal of the project was to purchase new tools that would enhance students’ abilities to develop real-world skills through the creation and sale of products, with proceeds being reinvested into the program for future projects.

Thanks to the new equipment, students are now able to:

  • Create and showcase their products online, including 3D-printed, laser-burned, and banner-printed items.
  • Successfully run a store where they sold products to raise funds for the program, generating significant community interest.

Notable projects completed by the Graphics Class include:

  • Designing scale models of playground equipment for a local child care supplier.
  • Creating medical replica heads for Concordia University’s medical department, showcasing advanced 3D scanning and printing.
  • Developing custom solutions, such as custom-fit legs for fans in the school facilities, demonstrating the students’ creativity and practical problem-solving skills.

The new equipment has opened up exciting opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience, fostering creativity, innovation, and teamwork. The success of this project not only benefits the students but also has a lasting positive impact on the broader Milan community.
