Welcome to the Community Foundation

Dear Friends:

Our premier edition of "Good News," CFMC's newsletter.

Our premier edition of “Good News,” CFMC’s newsletter.

If there is anything certain in life, it is change and the current economic climate has proven this to be true.  It seems that every day we are confronted with new challenges and opportunities that test our abilities and thinking.  Nonprofit organizations, like ours struggle to meet the increased demands on our resources in this uncertain investment market.  Despite this we were able to give scholarships to students totaling $40,000 and award $70,000 in grants to the community.

These challenges have made us reaffirm our mission and goals and fine tune our communication to the community.  Our tag line now reads, “For good, For Everyone, Forever.  Our over arching goal is: “We help you build a charitable legacy, turning your wishes into long-lasting benefits for our community”.

In this report you will see a couple of example stories.  These stories and many others show us that individuals can make a difference in the lives of others by following their passions that inspire and help others.

While we have a long road of recovery ahead, we do have some good news that we are continuing our literacy program which continues to be outstanding for early reading. We are convening community members to discuss college access and the improvement of our community’s college attainment.  We have hosted our third year of “Rollin’ on the River”, our signature event, which has proven to be a success.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Staff of the Community Foundation of Monroe County thank you for your continued support.  We encourage you to consider accomplishing your charitable goals by working with us.  We are here to support you in your philanthropic efforts.
