The Board of Trustees makes it their business to identify the needs and opportunities of the people of Monroe County and makes every effort to bring about resolutions and programs which will have a positive affect on our quality of life.

The Community Foundation of Monroe County has the ability to establish and administer a wide variety of charitable funds. Donors can, quite literally, establish their own charity through the Community Foundation.
Serve as a leader and catalyst in community affairs by identifying local needs and concerns, addressing community problems and helping to shape long term responses and solutions.
It is a major function of a community foundation to convene concerned parties to resolve local issues of concern or opportunity. The Community Foundation of Monroe County has a reputation for bringing about solutions by convening meetings of diverging groups.
Land Use - The Community Foundation of Monroe County began a Community discussion on land use
issues in 2004. After many meetings with community members who were interested in further discussing land use issues, the Community Foundation of Monroe County has formed a Countywide Land Use Committee with the Monroe County Farm Bureau. Representation on the committee is from different sections of the county. The Countywide Land Use Committee is looking at a “pro agriculture” plan so that various grants can be received. Mary Webb and Dale Brose are co-chairing the committee.
War of 1812 Bicentennial - The Community Foundation of Monroe County is bringing the community together to explore the opportunities for the War of 1812 Bicentennial which takes place in 2012. A master plan is being developed by The War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee. All are welcome to take part in the committee.

The Community Foundation is devoted to building permanent endowment funds to meet the charitable needs of Monroe County for this generation and many generations to follow.
